Is your loan officer Licensed or just Registered with the NMLS?

In order to obtain a License, each loan officer is required to pass a State and National Test.  Current Federal Law states if you work for a Bank or a Credit Union, you do NOT have to be licensed and do NOT have to prove you have the knowledge required to advise customers.  Insurance Agents are required to have a license.... shouldn't your Loan Officer?  After all, they are advising you on one of the most important decisions in your lifetime.
